Busy, Busy, Busy…
December and January have been two months filled with running around. As you can see, we didn’t finish our blog last month, or at least we never got it to a point we wanted to publish. The holidays are always a chaotic time. All of the family coming to town at different times, trying to coordinate meetings and gift exchanges. As well as this year the Mahrley-Tanner-King-Takacs-Westcott Family took a family trip of our own, complicating things further.
However, even as the online portion of our plan has faltered, we at Jules Place have been spending a lot of time on the physical aspect of our work. With the major holidays that have come and gone, we sold our Povitica, taking orders by email or phone, then delivering them the week of. And if any of you are willing to take the trip out to Lac La Belle, he have been supplying the Bear Belly Pit Stop with Pasty’s and baked goods for their Grab-and-Go section.
If the ride out there is a bit far in the weather, we will be attending the Hancock Farmers market at 417 Quincy St on Saturdays with Kringle, Povitica, and some cookies to sell.
This is the final test we made where we determined we got the recipe down
The Kringle is a delicious Danish, the one pictured here is almond, and its what we plan to take to the market this week. We say this week because it is a very versatile pastry, and we plan to bring variations in the upcoming weeks, so the options never feel (pardon the joke) a bit stale.
Besides these options mentioned, we are now accepting more individual orders. Weather it be for a cake for someone’s birthday, a dozen cookies you have a craving for, Poviticia, anything, contact us and well see what we can work out for you. Even on the savory side, we mentioned in a past blog of the four course dinner event held in November, we are looking to continue those events, which would be perfect for a birthday event between adults, an anniversary, or just a good way to get a good amount of friends or family together to share a unique dining experience.
On a more personal note we’ve been staying busy between orders and our part time gigs by keeping up with some new and old hobbies. Alex has been cooking off different cuts of meat to make things like cubans or brisket sandwiches. While Cate has recently taken up knitting along with crochet, mostly making things to keep us warmer this winter. Living in Traverse for the last three winters has really changed our tolerance to the cold, but I feel like were getting used to it(slowly). But as January slowly changes to February we’ve been happy to slip back into our pre Holiday schedule.
